It is really Simple..Take the Day Off!

If you need permission to do so, you now officially have it!

Yes, it is Columbus Day. And as memory serves, that means a day off for most public and private schools.

My advice: if you work or go to a public/private school…enjoy your day! Don’t play “catch up” with your work at home or, God forbid, your work at school!! This is something I would do often, and quite frankly….I thought it helped me. But, I think it contributed to overload!!

Take the day OFF. Continue reading Simple~Take the Day Off!!

Happy Birthday to my Youngest!

Happy Birthday to my Youngest!

My youngest celebrated his 26th birthday this week.  I try to respect his privacy, but I would be remiss not to wish him a Happy Birthday!  We are so proud of him and the wonderful young man he has become…he is an inspiration to us.

“Different as daylight and dark.” is a statement heard often by parents of two or more children.  This family was not an exception to that statement.  While both boys are different, they each taught us how to be parents…to individuals.

“While it may not be equal, it is fair.” was a term we used often.  Treating children as the individuals that they are is of the utmost importance, and having our second child taught us this parent thing wasn’t cut and dried.

Funny how you know everything before you become parents…and then you know everything when you become the parent of one….we still had a lot to learn!!

So I wish this greeting to my youngest;  yes, my baby.  Unconditional love multiplied, not divided.  And I would not trade motherhood in for all the money in the world.

I am blessed to have such precious sons.

Simple Acceptance

Simple Acceptance

Have you ever been around a new born at birth? I have been a birthing coach a few times, had my own sons…so this is melded in my heart. It cries…it is expected to cry and should cry. Do you know what usually calms that cry? It is actually a a rather universal solution….place that child in its’ momma’s arms. You will hear the soothing whispers of that mother and soon those cries disappear.

A three year old says “look what I did Mommy” This child wants Mommy to see what he did! He wants her to be proud of him.

The teen years pose a somewhat different need. Acceptance by friends and peers. Wear the right clothes, say the correct things. Continue reading Simple Acceptance
