It doesn’t seem like you can find one person that doesn’t have some type of pain in their lives right now. Our own family is dealing with painful situations and situations that just do not seem to have answers.

And yet……

I watch as marriages are failing, lives are being destroyed by choices made and others decide that alcohol and drugs will make the pain go away.

Lift that Load with Thanksgiving!

 Lifting that Load…..

I was watching a backhoe the other day in a field near our home.  It was scooping dirt, lifting it, turning and placing it in a pile behind itself. It moved with precision and did quite a bit of work. No wonder our boys loved watching these type of machines work when they got a chance!

It was quite mesmerizing actually. Boy, it sounds like I need to get a life!

But I got to thinking about our loads…..

Wouldn’t it be great if we could just scoop them up and dump them behind us?

Strength Training and Weights

Strength Training for Believers…

I understand that at my age “strength training” is very important. As we age our bones become weak and using weights helps bring them the strength needed for health. I am amazed when I watch people bench press in the triple digits….

I even took a class one time to learn how to lift “correctly”. To say that my posture needed work is an understatement. Unless I stood a certain way and had a spotter, disaster was possible.

Oh I learned a lot and did increase the weight as the class progressed. A spotter was essential, and I did not attempt any lift without one! I felt strong, I walked with a certain confidence that I had not possessed before and once I learned how to stand to lift, my posture improved.

Interestingly enough, once the class was over and I quit my routine…my posture changed as did my strength.
