Is that Peace Counterfeit?

It doesn’t seem like you can find one person that doesn’t have some type of pain in their lives right now. Our own family is dealing with painful situations and situations that just do not seem to have answers.

And yet……

I watch as marriages are failing, lives are being destroyed by choices made and others decide that alcohol and drugs will make the pain go away.

I see others doing all the “right” things for God and checking off each and every duty they carry out. They judge those who don’t perform the same way and seem to think that they are the “spiritual” ones. So called peace….

Counterfeit.

When someone pays with a $100 bill at a check out line, the clerk draws a line with this weird looking marker. It contains an iodine solution that reacts with the starch in wood-based paper to create a black stain. If it is an actual bill, there is no discoloration because there is no reaction.

So counterfeit peace leaves a stain too. It is not real. It is worthless and of no value. There is only one kind of peace, and that is the peace that we get from knowing Jesus and resting in Him.

How do we get peace from Jesus? We simply trust Him and as we get to know Him better with each and every day, we realize that He is the only true peace. Be sure and look over your shoulder to see all the times He was faithful with His peace in the past.

In the midst of the circumstances I have described, it would be easy to try other means to attain peace. But none of them last. One situation we are waiting for an answer and have been waiting for over six months…but God has provided us with a supernatural peace that can only be described as such….because if one looks upon this circumstance, it hasn’t changed and is frustrating!
