I am Still Here

Just checking in!  As I mentioned in my last post, our granddaughter arrived a couple of weeks early and is doing very well!  She is precious and we are so excited. She is loved by two sets of grandparents who are experiencing their first grandchild, as well as so many friends and family!

I am back to working on the third edit of “Unexpected Gifts” and each time I go through it myself I find more to correct.  I guess that is the teacher in me too, I want everything to be correct, and I am sure I will miss some items.  I will run it through the “Grammarly” program again after this edit.

There sure is a lot to think about when writing and publishing a book!  I have always felt it was to be published on Amazon as an e-book.  Self-publishing a book in print can be quite costly, and right now that is not something we feel like I should do.

So, prayers appreciated.  I know that I know, that I know I am supposed to get this book out there. Oddly enough I have two more book outlines started already. The second book will be a devotional and the other is another piece of fiction.  Although I might make a second book in this series, we will just wait and see what the response is……

So my prayer is that you all are doing well.  I hope to be back to blogging and staying in contact with all of you again soon.

Much love!

~The Ocean Series~ Beach Umbrellas

Most of the time when we make the track down to the beach to sit oceanside, we take our beach umbrellas.  And I have taken many pictures with the ones that match lined up on the beach like students in the line to go to the cafeteria. And I especially love to see all the different colored ones splattered against that shoreline.

But more times than I care to count…the beach umbrella gets caught by a gust of wind….and there is goes, tumbling over itself like it was a tumbleweed in the desert! My husband thought he had turned it far enough in the sand to stay, but alas….it is never enough! Even the pros have trouble with the right gust!

It is like living the Christian life.  It is never enough!  You can press in, work harder, lead VBS, feed the hungry, have daily Bible studies, sing in the choir…and it would never be “enough.” Continue reading

~The Ocean Series~ Sailing Off into the Sunset

The sail boat glides across the water as the red, orange and coral sun sets over the horizon.  The pace is that of someone not worried about time, or what is in the future or past.  The only concern is the present. They are not worried about solving someone else’s problems.  Sailing off into the Sunset…literally it seems.

I believe a lesson for me right now is simple for my mental health. I cannot help everyone solve their problems.  I cannot “mother” everyone I come in contact with….I can love them, but not take on those burdens as my own.

My “type A” personality has done that my whole life.  As the eldest of three with divorced parents, I took charge.  I was the one who had to make sure everyone was ok.

This past week the Lord has allowed me to rest, and learn.  I can only do what I can do.  And I hear this “the very thing you are gifted in is the thing that can destroy you.”  My sweet friend told me that long ago.  She was prophetic I think.

My compassion for others has come close to destroying me a few times.  But the Lord in His wisdom helps me remember that I am not to be consumed with “fixing” everyone.  He can take care of them…I just need to let Him and not try to do it myself! I often worry about situations that God has already worked out, I just need to step out of the way.

So in the sail boat I glide, watching the sunset.  Breathing and living life in the moment….in the here and now.

Feel free to join me, just don’t expect me to do all the guiding!
