I have enjoyed this great day full of sunshine and warmer temperatures along with the rest of the area! Sun roof open, walk outside, dinner grilled by the hubby. As I said in my Facebook post…good for the soul.
Spring reminds us of new beginnings…new growth. We feel fresh and relish in the thought of getting out from the doldrums of cold. We are reminded that no matter what we have been through or what the season has brought us, we can begin again. We don’t have to stay stuck in our mistakes. We can pick up and start all over.
Then….
We read that at the end of next week cold temperatures are predicted. With {gulp} the possibility of snow.
WHAT??????
Which brings this reminder….what we did in the past. The mistakes we made that we wanted to forget about and wanted to leave behind. Winter sneaks up on us, just when we think that we are starting all over with a new beginning.
That four letter word….
But the reality is that even if we experience the snow, spring is literally just around the corner calendar and it will be short lived. The days are longer and the temperature averages are better…so it won’t last long.
As believers, our past was forgiven, as well as our present and future. Yep, already taken care of….so we must go on. 1 John 1:7-10 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.” (of course this doesn’t give us permission to continue “in sin”)
We must continue to walk through that winter…we have been given a glimpse of spring and we cannot allow that four letter word to bring us pause. We will make it, we can start again…it can be new. We are new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
Never forget…even in the midst of that four letter word!
