The Edge….Whew!!

The Edge…Whew!

Have you ever felt like you were looking over the edge of a cliff,

needing to take a step off…but the bridge that you need to cross over has not been built yet?

Oh you know that it will be built, but it would be great to at least see part of a plank before you took that first step.

TRUST

Whew!

I have been there a few times. Now someone I love dearly is facing that edge. And of course, the fixer I am….I want to take that first step myself…you know, just in case. But I have to trust that God will place those planks at the exact right time, in the proper place.

I have seen Him do it time and time again.

And He will do it again.

Whew!

Sometimes I think it is easier when you are the one taking that step. Watching and praying for someone you love as they take it seems to be a little more jittery for me.

And I have learned over time that the bridge isn’t always built at the exact time I think it should be built. Sometimes I have had to sit down for a while and trust.

Whew!

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Quitting a job, believing that God is leading you to do so…..losing a job, trusting that there will be one for you…..getting that diagnosis, knowing that you will get through it with God…..dealing with the death of a loved one, believing that He will never leave your side.

Getting to that other side looks really daunting without a bridge beneath your feet. But if you listen, and take that step at the right time….it will be there. He promised.
