Homeschool VS. Public School!!

Homeschool Vs. Public School

Usually when VS.
appears between two subjects
there is a fight
or debate underway!

I must sound like an actual living, breathing oxymoron. One day I write about the public schools and the virtue of teaching. The next day I write about the virtues of homeschooling. Someone is going to be mad at me for something.  Oh well…..I speak from the heart!

Contrary to popular belief, they both hold the same desire for positive outcomes.

And there doesn’t have to be a fight. I have been on both sides of the coin. And there are positives on both sides…and negatives.

Bottom Line: You must decide what is best for YOUR family…not your neighbor’s family, your sister’s family….YOUR family. And you cannot care what others think about your decision.

Because trust me…
EVERYONE has an opinion…..you don’t even have to ask.i think that..

I taught for 15 years in the public school system. And right now I believe there are a number of things wrong. But I cannot blame the schools. They are mostly full of people on staff that truly love kids and want what is best for them. But, the laws provide a lot of limitations, rules and quite frankly…nonsense. Again, those making the major decisions might not have any business doing so.

I homeschooled my sons for 10 years. I did so because we felt “called” to do this. We felt that it was our responsibility as parents, to “raise up a child”. It was our responsibility to teach them everything that needed to be taught…from Biblical principles to Reading!!

I was fearful when I started both jobs. I was worried I might not succeed in both jobs. There were issues and problems, and joys and jubilation. But both offered successes.

I have no regrets. I enjoyed teaching in the public schools and believe I made an impact. I loved teaching my children at home and believe I made an impact. Granted I felt it more important with my own children…but in retrospect, I treated my students as if they were my own.

So dare I say it….support one another. Don’t judge Sarah for sending her kids to the public school any more than judging Hillary for not sending hers and keeping them at home.

Folks, we are raising our future here. We need to make sure we are doing everything we can to do the RIGHT thing…for ALL of them!

Trust me when I say that there are plenty of parents out there not doing ANYTHING at all….and it is beyond sad.

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14
