A New Normal

The last couple of weeks have been busy for me, as with you most likely.  We have a “new normal”.  One of my dear friends shared that term with me the other day and it resonated with my spirit.

My huge snowman collection is not sitting around, just a “couple” I made this year.  Our large Christmas tree is not up.  Instead, a white three foot “Coastal Christmas Tree” sits on a table, which is  adorable.

You know, the one in which you had to take at least twelve times to get a decent one out of the bunch; all the while enduring the complaints of every male in the picture? splinters

Do you remember when one of your kids came to you crying with a splinter and you were trying to get it out of a finger? “Be still” were the two words out of your mouth. Their purpose? To make that little guy sit still so you could keep from digging that flame sterilized needle into your baby’s already pounding finger!pain-1164308_640

My little guys always were in the “know”. They knew that their momma would get that splinter out. If they were very still, that splinter came out quicker and with less pain. They trusted me, they knew me..I was their momma. Continue reading splinters
