Changing Clouds

I am simply mesmerized by storms. You would think I would not be willing to take pictures based on my experience with them.

Tornado, derecho, tropical storm, tropical depression, small hurricane…I think that is all we have experienced, at least at this point of our lives. The joke with my friends is to “stay away from her…she is a storm magnet.”

As I watched the storm materialize tonight and took pictures of the storm clouds, I was reminded of our lives. Of course the obvious comparison is to the storms in our lives. And we all have many storms.

But my heart was drawn to time. How quickly things can change in one’s life. From one moment to the next….circumstances can flip as quickly as those storm clouds move through the sky.

One minute you see a red spot that looks strange on your back, the next moment it is most likely skin cancer. At any given time your teenage child is sitting in the driveway learning how to drive, in the next moment your phone is ringing because of an accident.

Our lives can change…quickly.

But as quickly as the bad news can come…good news can come as well. A bill for an unexpected home crisis arises…and someone hands you money to cover the bill. A blind date with someone who didn’t seem your type has suddenly become your soul mate.

Friends, the good news is that you are not alone. No matter the nature of the changes, or the quickness in which they occur….the Heavenly Father is right there with you in each circumstance!

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:7

I believe that we all need this reminder. You are LOVED. You are CHERISHED. You are NOT ALONE.
