A Sponge
Have you ever soaked up liquid with a sponge? You can just sit it in the liquid and the next thing you know, all the liquid is contained in that sponge. It doesn’t seem to ever fill up.
That is us friends. We soak up what is around us. If we are around negative people all the time….we kind of get to be that way. If we are around positive people on a daily basis, we seem to change our attitude as well.
Soaking up His word and encouragement is life changing.
We have all heard the “Bible Stories” throughout the years. These are not just stories, these are regular people. They made mistakes and God still used them.
What constantly amazes me is that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. He has done that over and over through history.
As we approach Christmas, I am always reminded of the “ordinary” Mary and how God used her. I cannot even imagine her questions! Joseph doubted her..and I am sure others did as well. And Joseph found out he was wrong..she indeed was carrying the son of God!
Matthew 1:18
“This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.”
We should not think harshly of ourselves when we mess up. We think that we cannot be used by God because of our inability to be perfect! Guess what? We cannot be perfect, but Christ is and what He did on the cross was enough.
We cannot live that Christian life friends. We must quit trying. We have to let Jesus live His life through us. I have come to realize that if I soak in the word of God…I am free. I know that if God used all these ordinary people, He can use me.
So like that sponge, we must soak up the truth, the Word of God! Allow yourself time to study and soak. The truth will soak into you. Understand and embrace the love the Father has for you!
Like that simple sponge, no telling what He has called you to do!
