Children and Dealing with Death

Death….

…..unfortunately is a part of life.

My sister in law passed away last night in her home surrounded by her adult children and loved ones. She had suffered from that evil disease cancer for too long. She fought the good fight.

But how does one deal with death and young children? How do we teach them that as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ we do NOT have to fear death?

“Who dropped those crumbs all over the kitchen floor” I said to the boys.  “Not me” said the eldest, “I didn’t do it either” said the youngest.

“Well one of you got crumbs all over my clean kitchen floor” I said in a voice that I was not proud of. “I have cleaned the bathroom and worked so hard on this floor.  Our friends are coming over tonight and I don’t want to have to mop it again!”

As Is Customary on this Day….Happy New Year!

My husband and I celebrated quietly last night. We were fortunate to have lunch with friends of 24 years yesterday. They moved several years ago and we virtually have raised our children together. We have kept in touch and we still consider them some of our oldest and dearest friends.
