~The Ocean Series ~The Mooring Rope

Since apparently the groundhog saw his sweet little shadow, I decided to focus one of my favorite areas of all time…the ocean and all that goes with it. I hope this series encourages you!

Have you ever walked past a dock where all the boats are moored? You can “hear” the mooring ropes as the waves hit against the boats. If the wind is strong or there has been a storm it is even louder. The pulling, stretching and pressure put on these ropes over time is strong.

Upon investigation, some of those ropes look very old and worn, yet they still maintain their strength. Even upon fraying, the rope that remains seems to be stronger than before. I suppose over time, and without the help of the boat’s owner, the rope will eventually break and need replaced or repaired.

Sometimes I feel like that old mooring rope. I am holding on, being thrown a little bit in different directions. I sometimes feel very frayed when a prayer that I have uttered for years doesn’t seem to be answered.

Can you relate?

But, as always, the boat’s owner repairs, replaces or strengthens the rope. Just like our Father. He offers repair, He offers strength and even replaces our faith with a renewal of faith.   And in the midst of the pulling, stretching and pressure…we get a little stronger.

So feeling like an old mooring rope might not be such bad thing.

More than a List

I have always prayed. But too often I have taken my “lists of needs and wants” to the Father as if He is the owner of a store in which all my lists can be fulfilled.

But I believe, in my humble opinion, that it is about communication with the Father. The God of the Universe. Of course I believe in prayer…but the way I pray has changed accordingly. I have always talked to Jesus as if He was right with me (which He was) but I had to learn to listen more…to trust Him in all things.

We are playing a new song at the radio station and the chorus has really touched my heart. It is sang by Natalie Grant and written by Becca and Samuel Mizell.

“Help me want the Healer, more than the healing.
Help me want the Savior more than the saving.
Help me want the Giver more than the giving.
Help me want you Jesus more than anything.”

Oh Lord….hear my cry. Remind me that it is about you Jesus,, your love and not what you can do for me. Enough was done on the cross.

I want the Healer, the Savior, the Giver….Jesus.

The Millinery Shop

The Millinery Shop

Although I never got to see it, my grandmother owned a millinery shop. Oh how I would have loved to seen all those hats and accessories!

Each one different than the other, no one just the same. Each one designed and made with love and devotion. I bet there was one that would even fit my very large head!

I guess that is like each one of us. Designed with love and devotion. Neither of us is the same. We all have different DNA, fingerprints, personality traits, hair color, height, weight…..you get the idea.

And each one of us is loved with a “reckless raging fury that they call the love of God.” (Rich Mullins’ The Love of God)

You may not feel that right now. That love may have seemed to alluded you, truly has not. It is there for your acceptance. For you to embrace. For you to wear….He loves you so much my friend.

Wear that hat, trust me, it fits perfectly.
