Stories

Jesus shared stories to teach.  Parables trying to get people to understand about God and spiritual truths.

“The Lamp” from Matthew 5:14-16, “The Mustard Seed” from Mark 4:30-34, “The Good Samaritan”-Luke 10:29-37 and so many more.John 15-1-4

And the Bible is full of stories.  Adam and Eve, David and Goliath, Ruth and Naomi, The Sermon of Jesus on the Mount, The Birth of Jesus..just to name a few.

I was wondering about my own personal story, or your personal story.  Can the Father still teach us from each and every one of these stories?

I am personally dealing with several health issues that have taken me by surprise.  I prayed for answers, and I got them.  But I did not like the answers.  So, I had to ask the Father to teach me through them.

He is teaching me that through chronic pain there can be joy.  It is my choice.  Does it make me happy?  Nope.  Am I constantly learning and trying to understand?  Yep.  But do I still trust the Father to get me through it?  Yep.  He has always done that in my life and He will not stop now.what is your story

I have developed compassion for those in pain…something I never totally understood until now.  I have to choose how to respond.

What is your story?

Were you neglected as a child?  Did your husband/wife leave you?  Did you lose your job?  Are you in poor health?  Did your spouse pass away?  Did your life end up much differently than you ever imagined?

Reread your story and remember, it is not over yet. And you may see something you have never seen before as you reread it.

Your story can teach you friend, if you let it.story books

Encouraging Fiction

The reading binge continues…I have an insatiable appetite right now for encouraging fiction, and Karen Kingsbury is meeting that need.

I completed the series, with the first, Angels Walking- A Novel .  A beautiful novel with Tyler, a baseball player, Sami, a one time girlfriend and Virginia, a precious resident at an assisted living facility.

Karen weaves the story of love, redemption, grace and forgiveness in such an beautiful way.  We are always entertaining “angels unaware”, and this author gives us a glimpse of what that looks like.

The second book of the trilogy, Chasing Sunsets, Karen Kingsbury continues with the expansion of the story of Marcus and Mary Catherine.  Both of these characters are friends of Tyler and Sami.  The angels are always on mission, and this book continues to show us the lives that the angels are needing to protect.

The third and final book, Brush of Wings, Karen continues to share the stories of each of the couples.  We also meet a young woman, Lexy, who is involved in a gang lifestyle that threatens her life, and the future that the Father has the angels protecting.

I love the way Karen allows us to peek behind the curtain at the angels. Ember, Beck, Jag and Aspyn, the angels throughout the series and in this third book,

work together on this very important mission.

Karen always makes books easy to read and hard to put down.  These three were no exceptions.

I just finished Oceans Apart…paperback   or Oceans Apart- Kindle  so I will talk about it next time.

Until then, pardon me while I start another KK book!

Love to Read!

I think that my love of writing comes from my love for reading. I remember as a girl wanting to go to the public library as much as I was allowed to go!

I grew up in the era in which one could ride a bike from one end of town to another without much worry.  So my bicycle seemed to be set on an old fashioned GPS setting of sorts to the incredible building.

When I walked in our beautiful library, I was immediately engulfed in peace. The quiet often soothed my troubled soul.  Ahead of me was an adventure just waiting to happen!  I walked between the aisles of books and breathed in the smell that only a true reader of books would understand.

Adventure, romance, comedy, news, encouragement…..the whole world was afforded to me in this place.  A product of a broken home, which often seemed very broken … this place was my haven, my safe place.

I will forever love the library.  And I will forever love reading.  My preference is a “real’ book.  I know a lot of people like audio books and digital downloaded books, but holding that book in my hands and turning the pages will always be my preferred method. The world awaits!

Alas, as a reader who does not have enough room in her house for ALL the books I want to read, I have succumbed to the pressure of buying a Kindle several years ago.  And now as an author, my books are offered in this format.

No one was forcing me to do this…I was just greedy in my book collection and needed room.  It made sense.  So currently I have over 400+ books downloaded, and that doesn’t include the AMP Bible, two dictionaries and several reference books.

And I have a tendency to read more than one book at a time, so having them all in one place is a bit convenient.

Since I plan to add more to my collection,  I had to share these discoveries!  If you are like me, this has infinite possibilities!
