She always took her time. Each movement seemed carefully calculated to make the process last as long as possible. Each piece of tape was removed as if it had never been off the roll. And don’t even mention the paper!
A gift un-wrapping.
That was my sweet grandmother. I remember each and every time she got a gift we would lose our patience. Since we unwrapped each gift one at a time if it were Christmas, we could not believe how long the process would take. Now her birthdays and Mother’s Days were a bit more tolerable. But come on!
I had a dream the other night and saw her do it all over again. She has been gone for over 30 years…but I know the Father was showing me something by allowing me to have this memory.
Un-wrap each day as the gift it is.
Treasure each and every moment. Savor and save each special occasion, but especially the ordinary. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Love those you are with at any given moment.
Each day is a gift that we can be thankful for……
I think my Grandmother had it right.
Cherish the day you have been given; the good, the bad and even the ugly.
Now go and Un-wrap with vigor. Save that beautiful paper and uh, don’t forget the importance of that transparent tape.
