Attention Teachers!!

I know what you are thinking.

It is less than a month away in most districts.

It is about that time…….

I will admit that for the 15 years I taught in the public schools, and yes….the 10 years I homeschooled by boys….I dreaded that day like none other.

The 4th of JULY.

That dread would begin to creep. It often took root deep within my heart and would wreak havoc on my thought processes! I would think about how the carefree summer would soon be over…and school would begin.

Now before you start throwing any small pebbles my way (or large stones for that matter)…I am just being honest. I enjoyed teaching all my students, and my sons were my number one priority….but I really enjoyed summer and the excuse to be “carefree, makeup free, alarm free”

I could be “me” in the summer. I didn’t have to “teach” anyone. I could just be a mom and not turn every trip into a “field trip” for my boys. (Although they still say I did that no matter what time of the year!)

So dearest TEACHERS,

Enjoy the rest of your well deserved break. Take time for yourself. I truly don’t believe people understand what you face in the classroom unless they have “taught a mile in your shoes”…so to speak.

I totally get it. It is a job like none other. There are more responsibilities put upon educators now than ever before…but YOU DO make a difference. Don’t ever forget that fact!

So refresh, renew, rest and relax. What you do is a calling. It is not a job as much as it is just something you know you have to do. It is your mission. You love without condition and give 110% of yourselves. And you do it…with grace, respect and love.
