Hello High School Reunion!

The High School Reunion

My husband had his …gulp….35th High School Reunion.

So I guess I will go ahead and say it…my 40th is in 4 years.

Go figure.

It is so funny that the brain says you might still be close to 18 years of age, but after a night of dancing the body reminds you otherwise.

We had so much fun! It was wonderful reminiscing with friends from high school and meeting new people as well. Everyone seemed to appreciate life at our age. No cliques, no groups..everyone was a friend to everyone else. We just appreciated getting to see each other again.

But a funny thing happened to us.

WAIT!!  Not everyone recognized us.

HOW can that be?

And we did not recognize every single person either. Of course How could that happen?

We looked the same to us! After all we have been married almost 35 years and we cannot see a big difference. “Happy Wife, Happy Life.” you know….and of course the eyes are the first thing to go.

But it really made me think of something.

My Father knows me. HE knows everything about me. He knew me in my mother’s womb and He knew me when I was born. He knows the plans He had for me and now has for me.

Psalm 139:13-15 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.”

He recognizes me no matter how much I change physically or mentally. He doesn’t have to look in a yearbook, or ask where my name tag is…

Jeremiah 29:11″For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

HOW cool is that?

If I look upon His hand…my name is engraved there. My name, the beloved that He loves and knows so well.

“See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” Isaiah 49:16

How could I ever doubt if He really loved me? He loves me with an unconditional love that I cannot even imagine.

And the beauty of it all….is He loves you too.

Think about that today…
and as you get ready for that next high school reunion…wear a name tag, maybe with a picture?
