Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord....

Easter Week

I was thinking about Palm Sunday today.

Matthew 21:6-11 “The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
‘Hosanna to the Son of David!’
‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’
‘Hosanna in the highest heaven!’
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?’
The crowds answered, ‘This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.’”

We know the story. A week later they were yelling for His crucifixion. The crowd sentiment had changed. How horrible!

But I am not sure I am much different. I would hope I wouldn’t be yelling for his crucifixion, but how do I know? I don’t for sure.  I know I prefer thinking I would be different.

How often have I said “Praise the Lord” when things are going great? “Praise the Lord”….great doctor’s report. “Praise the Lord”….incredible Biblical conference. “Praise the Lord”…..answered prayer.

But if there are rough circumstances in life….do I “Praise the Lord.”?

The doctor’s report wasn’t as I would have liked…do I “Praise the Lord”?
I did not get to attend the conference….do I “Praise the Lord.?
The prayers weren’t answered as I had thought they should be…do I “Praise the Lord?”

So as I concentrate upon Easter this week, I will examine my heart. I want to “Praise the Lord” in all situations, basically trusting Him 100%.

I know He loves me…He loves us friends!  Letting that soak in and envelop our hearts will take us to a place of total trust.  We have to trust Him and praise Him in all situations. But it is our choice to do so.

Ordinary People~Extraordinary Things and The Roses

Roses

Remember:

Acts 17:24-25 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.”

And He uses “Ordinary people to do Extraordinary Things”

We might be shoveling the snow from the neighbor’s driveway without pay, giving the waitress a kind word and a nice tip, establishing a friendship with a the lonely second grader that doesn’t seem to have any friends…all of those things and many more can help all of us to understand that God indeed uses us. Ordinary People~Extraordinary Things

God uses Ordinary People to do

I use to tell my kids this when they were growing up: “I don’t care what career you have when you grow up as long as you love God and let Him love others through you.”

They heard it a lot. And I meant it because I struggled for years with “am I doing enough?” I chose to believe that unless I was in a tropical rainforest somewhere as a missionary, I was not doing “enough” for God.

But God uses “Ordinary people to do Extraordinary things.”

Check out the people from the Bible and how the Father used them!! I will start with Abraham, Noah, David…Mary! The list never stops!

But, first things first….Knowing that God loves us without condition. Unless we understand that it doesn’t matter what we DO or what we DON’T do…God still loves us; we will struggle for the rest of our lives. I believe that is the most important thing we can ever teach our children.

Always remembering that it is their choice….we cannot make them believe that….but we must do all we can do to teach it and model it.

Henry Blackaby (www.blackaby.net) has a course that my husband I took over 20 years ago entitled “Experiencing God”. We were taught that God was at work all around us and we just got to join Him wherever that was if we chose to.

That is the kicker….He doesn’t need us folks. We get to be a part of His work if we join Him and we are blessed. He will use someone else if we don’t participate…

Paul said this in Acts 17:24-25 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.”

So what can we teach our children? To love those that we come in contact with…getting to know God’s character and who His and allowing Him to live “in us” is what it is all about.  It will carry us through our entire life, no matter our career choice.

I will continue this on Wednesday….keep an open mind and an open heart…

And remember,

“God uses Ordinary people to do Extraordinary things”
