Long Lasting Relationship=

40 Years Later37th-anniversary-collage

37 years married plus 3 dating years….and we realize that there is no “magical formula” for having a “Long Lasting” relationship.

But there are five things that seem to cement us together year after year.

1. Laughing……at things we do, situations we find ourselves in, television shows, movies, tough times, crazy times; and yes, at each other.

2. Learning……new hobbies, how to’s, rules to games, about surrender to Christ in our lives, how to continuously rest in Christ;  and yes, about each other.

3. Living….even when times are tough, one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time;
appreciating each and every moment we are given on this earth while taking nothing
for granted; and yes, with each other.

4. Liking……others in our lives, where we are at any given time, spending time together; and yes, each other.

5. Loving….unconditionally: family, friends, the unloveable, Christ; and yes, each other.

Seems pretty simple, but it often isn’t. Surrendering to Christ and making a point to love our spouse as Christ loves will prayerfully give us a firm foundation.IMG_0005

He says I am a keeper, and I feel the same way about him. So here is to another year!

  1. aww! Thank You for sharing – You guys are a wonderful example to look to – when there is so much divorce today. I loved seeing your picture from when you were first together until now. Happy Anniversary!

    1. Thank you sweet Ellie! I know you could add to that list as well. I love “tethered to True Loving Values”. Have you ever thought of writing? 😉 I guess I need to do some interviews. Thanks so much for reading!

      1. Oh you are so sweet, thanks for the compliment. Yes, we have a lot in common dear friend. A long life together is full of laughs but also challenges. It’s been 47 years for us. Marriage to me is not disposable and I love him too much to throw him back after he caught me. 🙂

        By the way, I’ve published previously and you should consider it too. It is a joy to fall in love with our characters. I’ve written two coming-of-age novels (e-books – chick-lit, 🙂 ) working on the final installment, and my non-fiction work, “Life’s Too Short to Eat Bad Cheese . . .” focusing on our mental, spiritual and physical connection to food has sold internationally. Even though each received excellent 4-5 star reviews, one doesn’t get noticed unless books get promoted and I’ve been too busy as a pastor’s wife to do so. In case I don’t hear from you before Christmas, have a very merry one!

        1. I was actually being sarcastic about writing because I do have one of your books…but have not read it yet. 😦 Hopefully over Christmas break I can get some reading done! You are simply amazing my friends and I am so grateful for “meeting” you through our blogs! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
