The “Child-Rearing Box” aka…”Raisin’ Box”

Child Rearing-2

Everyone has a “Beauty Box” you can order. BirchBox, Ipsy, or even Goodebox for those who prefer natural or organic items. Wait for it….even Wal Mart is carrying a beauty box. Why am I not surprised?

Wouldn’t it be great to have a “Child Rearing Box” or a “Raisin’ Box” each and every month, bi-monthly, or quarterly you would receive specific instructions on how to raise your child to adulthood.

And yes, I know that there is Bluum, which is a box for “pregnancy to preschool” and wait for it…Wal Mart has a baby box too. But I am straying from my point.

This box would contain everything you ever needed to know about raising children. Each stage carefully outlined and planned out. There would be a profile each month after your box arrived to find out how things were progressing and questions for you to answer concerning any issues with your baby/toddler/child/teen.

Sounds simple enough.

Unfortunately, that box does not exist. If it did, I might be a very rich woman right now.

Raising children is no easy task. They don’t come with instructions and you find out that what works with one doesn’t necessarily work with the other one. So what is a parent to do?

First, don’t be afraid to ask questions. There are always older people around that have parented and learned from their mistakes. Access those you trust. You can listen and choose to use or not use their advice.

Second, don’t be afraid to make mistakes. You will and it is okay. Saying you are sorry to your children can be done. Do not let pride stand in your way.

I could go on and on with advice. And I know that everyone has it to give. You can “Google” anything and see opposite opinions on almost every question possible. So here is my take on it.

Teach your children about God….not just God, the creator of the universe, but God…the lover of their soul. Teach them and show them that they are loved and that they were made in His image. Teach them that God created them and knew them before they were even one day old. Teach them and show them how to love unconditionally. Teach them and show them how to be compassionate and caring.

And don’t leave it up to the institution of the church…i.e. pastors, Sunday School teachers. It is our responsibility. No one else has to do our job for us.

So actually, my box wouldn’t make me too rich…it would just have a Bible in it.
