Inheritance
According to Webster’s: money or property that is received when someone dies. Something from the past that is still important or valuable. The act of inheriting something.
We would love nothing better than to leave our children millions of dollars when we die. But…it AIN’T Happening.
We made some life choices concerning me being a “stay at home” mom, homeschooling, a Christian education, braces :), and who can forget College. Thus the lack of exactly million.
Sorry Boys …….
But one inheritance we did leave them…..the knowledge of faith in Jesus Christ. We tried to teach them about trusting God. We made it a point to do so, we felt it our responsibility as parents. We didn’t leave the instruction up to the church. Youth leaders, or others. Although those people were an important part of their lives, it was not someone else’s responsibility.
Now we watch one of our sons go through a personal trial of his own. And in the midst of the rt sn the pain….we see him continue to trust God. He has been such a role model to us. This happens sometimes, doesn’t it?
The importance of the inheritance proven….
As a parent, we really want to give our children the world. We want to take away their pain, meet their needs and wants and sometimes go overboard in all areas!!
But the most important things we can give them?
The Bible is very specific about our inheritance. Believers are privileged to receive a spiritual inheritance from their Heavenly Father as a result of their adoption into the family of God through faith. They inherit so much!
Ephesians 1:18-21. ” I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people and his incomparably great power for us to believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at the right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the presnt age, but also I. The one to come.”
Think about the inheritance you want to leave your children, it is of more value than you think!
