Simple Gardening
I am a “city farmer.”
How can that be?
It is quite simple…I grow my tomato and pepper plants in pots on my patio. Whoo-Hoo
“Pepper plants in pots on my patio” Now there is a phonics lesson or a lesson on alliteration if I’ve ever heard one!! But I regress…………….
I have kept the critters away from the pots. They have been void of pests. I have grinned from ear to ear picking my first tomato and pepper…..but “city farming” does not sustain you. Two tomato plants and two pepper plants will not make a serious batch of salsa.
So what’s a girl to do? Call her uncle, the “country farmer.” The man grows everything.
Out in the country……
……..in the ground……
………in rows.
I have been making salsa, refrigerator pickles and anything else that I can make with my food processor. I have a very giving uncle.
It is kind of like studying God’s word. If I don’t really get into it daily, if I don’t really spend time with His word, when I really need it….I don’t know it. Oh, I know the popular verses, but I cannot remember the ones that I need for a particular situation at a particular time. And I have no one to blame but myself.
How we need to impress this upon our children as they grow.
Galatians 6:7-8 “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”
I think next year I will plant a garden….maybe a few rows at least!
