Your Place of Peace

What is it about the ocean?psalms-97_1

There is something about the ocean that I simply cannot explain. I love to sit on a beach and simply stare out into the ocean. The waves lap up against the shore in a delicate calming rhythm.  Or they might be crashing upon the shoreline with glorious fury. The water might sparkle or it might look grey and ominous. The sounds are that of seagulls and birds or it is dawn and you hear virtually nothing.

Sometimes  just sitting on the back porch listening to the birds and looking into the woods defies explanation and the peace it brings.

Whatever the draw is….I love it. I really feel alive.  I know others that feel that way when they are in the mountains.  Some can sit on a rock in the middle of a wooded area and sense His presence and peace.

I know I should sense His presence no matter where I am. I get that, and I desire that…but every single time I am near that vast ocean…I feel His presence, His peace.

Is it the fact that I have stopped? That I am trying to hear? That a million things are not swirling around in my head telling me what I need to do? Have I given myself down time since it is a vacation, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life? Can I do the same thing on the porch?

The “whatever and whenever” are not important.  What is important is that you find your “place of peace”.  Just look….you will find it!

I love Jesus. If I say nothing else, that is enough. But for those curiosity seekers, I am a 56 year old former special education teacher, current part time CCM Radio Announcer who is married to her high school sweetheart. We have been together for 40 years, married 37 of those years! We have raised two sons, who are now married, have jobs and mortgages. We have our furry son, a West Highland Terrier. It wasn't always easy, and I like sharing some insights from those "mommy" and "teaching" years. I also want to encourage people in their daily life. I believe that the Father speaks to us all the time, sometimes I have been too busy to listen. Even during times of trials and troubles, He is ever present. ~Be Encouraged Today~
