Encouragement for Today~In today's world of swirling circumstances, we need to be reminded of how much we are loved by God.

Teaching before Christmas is like a Peanut Butter and A Mustard Sandwich

*My annual salute to teachers this time of year.*

Teaching and Christmas are like…..

…..making a peanut butter and mustard sandwich.

They don’t mix well.

Year after year the day we came back from Thanksgiving weekend it began.

Forget the Christmas cookies, trees, toys and Santa… we must learn!  And to think their sleep patterns were bad throughout the year…..check out the week before Christmas.its-christmas

The desire to let them enjoy themselves always clashed with the need to teach. Christmas themed lesson plans were something we wanted to do.  Unfortunately,  it became increasingly difficult with all the federal, state and locally mandated items.

So what is a teacher to do?

~Hang on, you are almost there.
~Try not to stress. 😉
~You are awesome and doing the best you can possibly do!
~Take deep breaths.
~Enjoy your well deserved break.

Unlike some members of society, I know that you don’t go home at 3:40pm everyday, take 3 months in the summer to lay on the beach, and get paid for not working. I know that you spend your own money all year-long, take work home with you every night or stay at school until 6.  Many of you go back for the evening. I know that you cry over some of your kids’ home lives and pray for them daily. I know that you are spent, wiped out, frazzled, stressed….all the while trying to keep it together to take care of your own family.2 Thessalonians 2_16-17

YOU are truly incredible my teaching friends.

Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. IF they do, send them to me!

Enjoy these next couple of weeks….Don’t think about what will be there to face you when you go back, because there will be students glad to see their precious teacher.

Now go ahead…eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, with a cup of coffee….and a lot of chocolate!

I love Jesus. If I say nothing else, that is enough. But for those curiosity seekers, I am a 58 year old former special education teacher, current part time CCM Radio Announcer and author... who is married to her high school sweetheart. We have been together for 42 years, married 38 of those years! We have raised two sons, who are now married, have jobs and mortgages. AND...we became grandparents to a beautiful baby girl in August!! We also have our furry son, a West Highland Terrier. My heart's desire is to encourage people in their daily life. I believe that the Father speaks to us all the time, sometimes I have been too busy to listen. Even during times of trials and troubles, He is ever present. ~Be Encouraged Today~

  1. I love substitute teaching and I, too work with special needs kids a lot. Yesterday the kindergarten and 1st grade PE class was really active. They are ready for Christmas.

  2. Yuk! But even that is better than Haggis or raw herring and onions! 🙂 Great post, blessings back,

  3. To be a teacher is such an honourable job. They are blessings 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! Would love to hear from you....
