Fashionable at 55!

Last year at this time I was working part time at a clothing boutique. And it had been established that I like clothes. I still like them. I still like fashion. However, I do not want to try and dress like a 35 year old.Fashionable at 55!

Dressing like that 35 year old isn’t a problem. My “bad hip” has required me to wear “sensible” shoes and although I still like “skinny jeans”…..there are limits. And now that I work at the radio station, being “fashionable” isn’t a real concern.

And yet, magazines have suggestions, thoughts, ideas, recommendations for being fashionable…at all ages. And access to websites and blogs will also tell you what is “proper” for woman my age.

Don’t wear black, wear bright colors; don’t wear baggy clothes, do wear fitted clothes; don’t wear leggings, do wear leggings as long as your shirt covers your bottom….

Don’t.
Do.

Now I am not going to pretend that I don’t care what I look like…because I do. I like dressing up sometimes, and I like a good ‘ole pair of jeans and a sweatshirt as well.

Shall we discuss make up? Don’t wear a glossy lipstick, wear a matte on your lips; don’t wear a pressed powder, do wear a dewy look; don’t wash with soap and water, do use a moisturizer.

Don’t.
Do.

Trial and error takes care of that issue as you age.  What is best for you?

The one thing I have learned through the years and through all the fashion…….

Be confident.

Whatever you choose to wear, whether it is sweats, yoga pants, or a dress and those dreaded panty hose (for those under 30, feel free to google “pantyhose”)…..

Wear it all with confidence.

Because basically what matters is how you feel. How you feel about yourself. And in my humble opinion and through experience, that confidence comes only from my relationship with Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5_17

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God” Romans 5:1-2

My identity comes from Him. I am confident in HIM. I can be who He designed me to be….no matter what I have on or how I look.

So wear it with confidence.

IN CHRIST ALONE
